At Rainbow Chefs Academy, we’re focused on offsetting childhood obesity and diabetes. One way we’re accomplishing this goal is by enabling hands-on, culinary experiences that educate students about healthy cooking, the benefits of eating real food, and lifelong skills. In addition to providing cross-curricular, standards-aligned courses, Rainbow Chefs Academy empowers schools and youth organizations with necessary tools for recipe preparation.
Combining on-site “chef’s boxes” with student backpacks offers the best of both worlds, ultimately encouraging student engagement in the classroom and at home. Let’s take a closer look at what’s inside our chef’s box.
What’s Inside the Chef’s Box?
Space is a precious commodity at schools and youth organizations, which is why our chef’s box was designed with a surprisingly small footprint (27” wide by 15” tall by 14” deep). Despite its compact dimensions, the chef’s box is packed full of essential—and high quality—supplies that students use to prepare delicious, nutritious recipes.
Inside each chef’s box you’ll find 20 sets of the following items:
- Bamboo cutting board
- Child-safe knife
- Measuring spoons
- Measuring cups
- Mixing bowl
- Whisk
- Bamboo spatula
- Drink shaker bottle
- Bristled scrubber
- Apron
Keeping a chef’s box on-hand at each location equips students for recipe preparation activities—without moving items between sites.
Don’t Forget the Instructor Kit!
Rainbow Chefs Academy also provides 
an “instructor’s kit,” which includes items for successfully leading each course. Fitting conveniently into an XL dry storage bag, the kit contains a variety of utensils and supplies—some of which are for instructor-only use.
